Imagine a place where neighborhood many kids play outside, ride scooters and skateboards, or explore the creek nearby. Many bike or scooter to school. When classes are over they walk to the library or hang out downtown. Lafayette is a suburban town with enormous appeal, especially for families.

Local schools have a great reputation; Lafayette was recently ranked #13 out of 822 “places with best schools in California”.  The community center offers lots of activities (like soccer, basketball, tennis, softball, swimming, ceramics art classes and dance).  Here, the local library is proud of its Children’s Library, Homework Center, Teen Center, Technology Lab, Bookmark Café, Community Hall, Book Shop, Outdoor Amphitheater, and public art displays.

Put simply, Lafayette is beautiful.  Lafayette Reservoir draws people from all over the area to hike, boat, fish and barbeque; there's the fabulous Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail system, and Briones Regional Park is in your backyard (often literally).​​​​​​​

Once a stopover for the Pony express crossing the Sierras, Lafayette is still a destination for quenching your thirst and satisfying the palette. Visit Zagat-rated Locanda Positano, Bonehead’s BBQ, and the soul-warming Hideout Kitchen for starters.  Commuters or those heading out for a night on the town to SF, Oakland or Berkeley will find it’s a breeze on Highway 24 or BART.  Heading the other direction, you’re a zippy BART ride to plentiful upscale shopping, dining and performances at the Lesher Center for the Performing Arts in Walnut Creek. ​​​​​​​
